This directory contains binaries for a base distribution and packages to run on Mac OS X (release 10.6 and above). Mac OS 8.6 to 9.2 (and Mac OS X 10.1) are no longer supported but you can find the last supported release of R for these systems (which is R 1.7.1) here. Releases for old Mac OS X systems (through Mac OS X 10.5) and PowerPC Macs can be found in the old directory.

Note: CRAN does not have Mac OS X systems and cannot check these binaries for viruses.Although we take precautions when assembling binaries, please use the normal precautions with downloaded executables.

OS X Yosemite on Unsupported Macs OS X Hackers macOS Extractor and MacPostFactor are apps that guide you through patching and installing macOS Sierra (10.12), OS X El Capitan (10.11), Yosemite (10.10), Mavericks(10.9), or Mountain Lion (10.8) on your older Mac. Option 1: Use createinstallmedia. Starting with Mavericks, hidden inside the OS X installer is a Unix program called createinstallmedia, provided by Apple specifically for creating a bootable. Package binaries for R versions older than 3.2.0 are only available from the CRAN archive so users of such versions should adjust the CRAN mirror setting (https://cran-archive.r-project.org) accordingly.

Please check the SHA1 checksum of the downloaded image to ensure that it has not been tampered with or corrupted during the mirroring process. For example type

in the Terminal application to print the SHA1 checksum for the R-4.0.4.pkg image. On Mac OS X 10.7 and later you can also validate the signature using

Note: the use of X11 (including tcltk) requires XQuartz to be installed since it is no longer part of OS X. Always re-install XQuartz when upgrading your macOS to a new major version. Also please do not install beta versions of XQuartz (even if offered).

  1. Hold down the right mouse button and click on the link below.
    Download EstimateS 9.1.0 for Windows (56 MB zip)
  2. Choose 'Save Target As' from the popup menu that appears.
  3. Place and save the zipped file where you would like to run EstimateS (e.g. the Programs directory, but you can put it anywhere you like).
  4. Double-click the zipped file to unpack EstimateS (it may happen automatically), which will be inside a folder called 'EstimateS 9 Windows.'
  5. Delete the zip file if you wish.
  6. Launch EstimateS from the EstimateSWin910.exe file in the EstimateS 9 Windows folder. You can make a shortcut and move it elsewhere it you want.
  7. See the EstimateS User's Guide (at this website) for instructions on using EstimateS.
